Do You Just Play Games?

Actually I am a programmer and web developer by trade. I have also studied in depth and I have been trying to figure out what makes search engines tick.
So you ask , what’s the answer!
Well I don’t think there is an answer, but there are some things a webmaster can do to increase existence in a search engine.
Below are some things I have found :
1. Grab those Back Links!
Make sure they are relevant to your website and the page where your link will be shown has a substantial ranking and traffic.
2. Create A Site Map
A site map makes it easier for the search engines to index your pages. I have found that a site map also increases the existence of your urls in the search engines.
3. Keep track of your links and urls.
If your links are moved or become dead delete them from your site map. Keeping dead links in your pages pollute search engine results and could actually hurt your ranking over time.
4. Is meta tags important to search engines?
It depends really on what search engine your talking about. Some search engines automatically pick up text in your page and don’t really read your meta tags at all.
I use meta tags, such as, title, description, keywords. << You know the basics. I also make sure my description tag matches the text at the top most part of my page and also the bottom of my page.
Another key thing is this :
Don’t just throw your link around like some cheap whore. Be cautious of who you link too. If the website is not relevant or has a low ranking you don’t have to link to them. It’s your website, you can link to whoever you want!
So what makes you such a genius on this subject of seo?
I am not a genius, these are just some things that have helped me along the way and I thought I would share.
Good Luck With Your SEO!
